<br />VISION STATEMENT <br />Every worthwhile endeavor starts as a dream--a dream that is the mind's mental visualization of <br />what could be, It is no different as we focus on th,e future for our community's and its citizens, <br /> <br />Over the past two months Morgan County's communities have held two convening meetings, <br />In February, 83 public and private community leaders from throughout Morgan County, <br />including representatives from the Colorado Office of Emergency Management and the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), came together to <br />consider the future of our communities with regard to Project <br />Impact, an initiative sponsored by FEMA, <br /> <br /> <br />The leadership identified core desires for the future, vision goals <br />that provide a framework for achieving the core desires, and <br />essential goals supporting the accomplishment of Project Impact, ' <br />These products, with the assistance of a cross.section of 40 <br />participants from Project Impact working independently, were then <br />fashioned into proposed vision statements, Amazingly, all of the proposed vision statements <br />were very similar, <br /> <br />The following is the vision gathered from consensus of the convening groups for Morgan <br />County: <br /> <br />Morgan County and its communities are cohesive and forward- <br />looking, uniting public/private partnerships and strong, <br />responsive leadership to build and sustain a disaster resistant <br />community. <br /> <br />In support of our vision, Morgan County and its communities are moving in the direction of <br />disaster resistance to decrease future costs in responding to severe weather, flooding, and <br />tornadoes, The following is the product of the community's thorough evaluation and identifies <br />the projects necessary to build disaster resistant communities, <br /> <br />The Project Impact initiative, will provide the essential tools to our communities to initiate <br />future hazard mitigation goals--risk alleviation through public information/education, training <br />and consolidating methods to make the communities a safer place to work and live, <br />Implemented actions will maintain and promote the capability to support a Disaster Resistant <br />Community, <br /> <br />----=;;--~.-~-- <br />
