The results of
the hydraulic analysis prepared for this report, through the
improved channel areas, were compared to the original
hydraulic calculations to insure continuity.

As-built drawings prepared by Love & Associates, Inc. from
mapping by Geonex Delta Aerial Surveys, Inc. of Denver,
Colorado (Ref. 2) were used in the preparation of this study.
The study was completed by the firm of Love & Associates,
Inc. in January, 1989.

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This flood
the UCBRP.
Figure 1.

study covers an area in Boulder, Colorado within
The study area is shown on the location map,

The analysis of Skunk Creek, a tributary to Bear Canyon
Creek, extends from the confluence with Bear Canyon Creek to
upstream of Colorado Avenue.

2.2 Community Descriotion

The UCBRP is state owned land completely surrounded by the
City of Boulder (City), located northwest of Denver on the
east side of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. The City, with
a population of approximately 84,000 people, encompasses 19.5
square miles located on an alluvial plane extending from the
base of the Front Range eastward.

Current and future development of the UCBRP has resulted in
the need to construct a flood control channel through the
site. Portions of the UCBRP are located within the historic
Skunk Creek, Bear Canyon Creek, and Boulder Creek
floodplains.

Love & Associates, Inc.
