More experience on the service life is needed
before this material can be considered for use through water retention struc-
tures.
(4) Asbestos-cement pipe. Asbestos-cement pipe is made from a mixture of asbestos fibers
and portland cement grout. It is used for water mains and distribution systems and for gravity
and pressure sewerage systems. Pressure and non-pressure pipe are available in sizes up to about
36 inches. Asbestos-cement pipe is resistant to corrosion by most soils but is subject to corrosion
by highly acid or highly sulfate-alkaline soils and by acid or highly septic sewage.
8.
