Ed Herring will contact the Weld County Chapter of the <br />American Red Cross to 9.13t them involved in the activities. <br />The Red Cross was on the scene during the flooding and <br />canvassed some victims. <br /> <br />2. Weld County Commissioners will meet on Monday, October 1, <br />1990 to hear the disaster assistance request from Frederick <br />and Firestone Mayors. <br /> <br />3. Ed Herring will coordinate all county and local efforts. <br /> <br />State <br /> <br />1. I will contact the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) <br />to request a reconnaissance study of the flood area. This <br />study should bring about certain mitigation concepts, <br /> <br />2. The Towns have requested technical assistance to their <br />constituents in the form of flood proofing information for <br />homes and businesses. DODES and CWCB in a joint effort will <br />accomplish this through on-the-scene activities. <br /> <br />3. I will coordinate DODES efforts, assisting Ed Herring at the <br />county level and local level as required. <br /> <br />4. I will contact the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) <br />concerning the Town' s financial status and inform DOLA of the <br />problem. <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />1. We should support the county and local efforts to mitigate <br />this flood disaster. <br /> <br />2. The "Window-of-Opportunity" exists to seek funding for a <br />potential flood mitigation project. <br /> <br />3. The town has requested help in the development of a local <br />flood mitigation plan and a local emergency operations <br />plan/checklist. Ed Herring has requested our assistance in <br />developing a generic "mini" plan for small towns. Loea1 plans <br />will be developed in coordination with the Weld County <br />Emergency Operations Plan. <br /> <br />4. The towns will declare this a local disaster. However, Weld <br />County may or may not wish to declare a county disaster area. <br />
