<br />Droughts after 1900. in conjunction with the decrease in sediment <br />discharge, also caused channel changes. During that time, salt-cedar was able <br />to colonize the channel below mean high waterlevel and stabilize the point <br />bars. This process allowed meander loops to enlarge as channel width <br />decreased. <br /> <br />8 <br />
