<br />Additional material which supports the newpaper descriptions <br /> <br />of this flood is contained in interviews with long-time residents <br /> <br />of Erie, as reported in the book, Erie: Yesterday and Today: <br /> <br />In 1921, Erie had the biggest flood of its history, the <br />water reached as high as the counter in the stores and <br />people moved about the area in boats.21 <br /> <br />Jean (Slater) and Stella (Lee) also remembered the flood <br />of June 3, 1921, when quite a few houses were washed off <br />their ~oundations and the railroad tracks were washed <br />out.
