The terms "Intermediate <br />Regional Flood", "lOO-year flood", and"one-percent flood" can be <br />used interchangeably as they are all defined by the ~a",e type of <br />flood event (see Glossary). However, to avoid confusion, the <br />t"rm "lOO-year flood" will be used exclusively throughout this <br />report. <br /> <br />Section <br />Revised <br /> <br />I. INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />A. Purpose and Scope <br />This report waa prepared to guide local officials in planning the <br />uae and regulation of the floodplain areas such that flood <br />hao:::arda and future flood damages are minimized. It includes <br />information on historical floods, existing factors which <br />influence the flood hazard, and the nature and extent of probable <br />future floods. <br /> <br />The report data includes flooded area maps delineating the <br />100-year flood boundary, flood profiles and typical floodplain <br />cross sections showing the wster surface elevfltionR for the 10-, <br />50-, 100- and 500-year frequency floods at selected reference <br />points. <br /> <br />C.
