Hypothetical examples of these presentations, depicting the areal
limits and elevations of the respective future floods at an imaginary
location, are shown On the following page.
The lateral limits of flooding from the Intermediate
Regional Flood (IRF) are shown by the blue-Shaded area, while the
solid blue area indicates the additional area that ~uld be under
water fr~ the Standard Project Flood (SPF). The flood profile shows
the relative depth of floodwaters along the centerline of the stream.
The cross section example indicates the depth and lateral extent of
flOOding that would occur at the specified cross section; other in-
fornation on flood flow depths at the location of the cross section
is tabUlated below. Similar data Can be developed for any flood
plain location in the study reach considered in this report.

EXAMPLE USE OF FLOOD P!.AININFOR.'lATIO"
DISTANCEPROH DEPTH " FLOOD~'ATER
LOCATION STREAM CENTERLn.1': m '"
Peet Peet
Point A " U U
Point , '" U U
Point , '" >'0

By using information as illustrated above, together with
other data such as frequency of occurrence, velocity of flow, and

duration of flooding, concerned individuals can make knowlodgeable
decisions relative to the use, development and ~anagement of areas
subject to inundation by flood waters.

"

.

.

,
0
"
~
"
w
>
w
"
.
w
m
~
w
,
,
"
w
W
"
Z
Z
0
~
. >
w
"
w
.

Stcndord ProjeClFlood(SPF)

Intermediote Re~jonol F:o'Jd (IRFI

'"

TRIIS/A

STREEf

~ ""
~ l
,\ifO

FLOODED AREA
SCALE:I"'500'

/i01
~MII..A~O'I'MO"th
l&l-.....~C'M.S..liO"Rj,.fMil.
!lPG.thon
"'~rrTlll<iiO~.Re.:loc<ICI FIoo4EI""",","

LEGE~O:

~
-SPF ~
,
-- ,,..IRF "
--Co ~ , ~
,
~- fj,:/<l9~
S"..",b8/! - -- /ileo,
Z - --- t--C/~.'an""
. --- -
0
00
.-

,,,

'"

,,,

."

m
lOA

iO.3

10.2

10.1

10.0

,,'

RIVER MILES ABOVE MOIJTH
FLOOD PROFilE

'"

il
,

'"

,,,

C,oun<lU""

m

PalM C

PM'" 8

,,,
o

Pain/A
""
FEET

'"

'"
OISTANCE IN

'"

'"

CROSS SECTION 30
VIEW LO<lKI~G DOW~STREAM
