AIRPORT SOUTH DRAINAGE (AREA NO. 11)

This area drains generally the southern portion of the air-

port along with part of the area in the southeast quarter of

Section 27, Township 2 North, Range 48 West. This area

contains approximately 277 acres.

C.

GEOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION

The entire area of the City of Yuma lies entirely within the high

plains section of the great plain physiographic province. The

topography ranges in altitude from about 4, 090 feet to 4,200 feet.

The total relief, therefore, is about llO feet.

The surface of the Yuma area consists of a nearly flat plain,

slightly disected by small intermittent streams. The flat area,

underlain by the unconsolidated deposits, contains some depressions

which are filled with water after heavy rains to form temporary

lakes and ponds. Even though there is no particularly significant

drainage away from the area, it is drained generally by the north

fork of the Republican River.

D.

RAINFALL AND RUNOFF

1. STORM WATER RUNOFF

Storm water runoff results from excessive precipitation

8
