These <br />forecasts provIde tImely warning of antIcIpated floodflows on the <br />Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />Flood fighting and emergency evacuation plans. - Mesa County has <br />developed a CIvil Defense Emergency Operations Plan that Is applicable <br />to flood dIsasters In the Grand JunctIon area. Under thIs plan, cIty <br />and county law enforcement agencIes warn the Inhabitants of an Impend- <br />Ing flood and coordinate search and rescue operatIons, maintenance <br />departments remove debris and make emergency repaIrs, and welfare <br />agencies care for displaced persons and coordinate Red Cross <br />activIties. These activItIes are coordinated by the CivIl Defense <br />Director In accordance with established policIes of the local govern- <br />Ing bodies. <br /> <br />Storage of floatable materials in flood plain areas. - The uses <br />of flood plains In the study area do not result In the accumulation <br />of significant amounts of floatable materIals that could be carrIed <br />away by floodwaters. Thus, the presence of floatable materials <br />constitutes a neglIgIble flood hazard or potentIal flood loss. <br /> <br />8 <br />
