Nonstructural methods Include: flood warning and

fore astlng systems, flood fighting, and emergency evacuation.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through

Its atlonal Weather Service (NWS) , maintains year-around surveillance

of w ather and flood conditions. Dally'weather forecasts are Issued

thro gh the NWS and disseminated by the local news media. A g~neral

aler to the danger of flash flooding Is one of the'servlces provided by

the atlonal Weather Service.

n "Emergency Evacuation and Operation Plan;1 should be developed by

Boul r and Weld Counties. Implementation of this plan would provide

for lerting the public of potential flQodlng and coordinating community

and unty services during an emergency.

Plan Implementation during the time of an emergency requires

coop ration of the general public as well as local officials.
