RESOLUTION

PREVIOUS FLOODPLAIN STUDIES
WHEREAS, there have been no previously designated floodplain studies for Special
Flood Hazard Areas within the City of Yuma; and

STUDY TO BE DESIGNATED
WHEREAS, the Federal Insurance Administration (FIA) published a Flood Hazard
Boundary Map (FHBM) for the City of Yuma onApri123, 1976; and

WHEREAS, said map included approximate floodplain delineations for unnamed
tributaries within the Republican River basin for the City of Yuma, as of April 23, 1976; and

WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEW.) stated, by letter dated
November 1, 1984, that Yuma has No Special Flood Hazard Areas and rescinded said FHBM dated
Apri123, 1976; and

WHEREAS, said map has been confirmed by CWCB staff to be deficient, and should be
rescinded due to a lack of technical information to support the approximate floodplain
delineations and due to floodplains that are inaccurate and outdated; and

WHEREAS, Hydro-Triad, Ltd., Water Resource Engineers, completed a report entitled
"Yuma, Colorado, Flood Plain Information, Phase A Report", dated November 1976, that has
not been designated by the CWCB; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board prepared a new informational report
entitled ''Floodplain Information Report, City of Yuma, Colorado" (FIR) dated May 1999 that
provides technical, approximate floodplain, and floodplain management information to the
community for its own uses; and

WHEREAS, said new report dated May 1999 references and incorporates the technical
information contained in previously prepared Phase A drainage report dated November 1976; and
