The orientation of the basin is shown in Figure-2. The
l~rger Cherry Creek and Kiowa Creek basins arc located to the west and east
of the Running Creek basin, respectively.

Running Creck flows northward from a maxi~ basin elevation of 7450
feet to 6430 feet above mean sea level (MSL) at Eli~abeth. Channel alignment
is relatively straight with an average fall of 50 feet per mile. The broad,
shallow channel is constricted at a number of points by rock outcrops.

The drainage area of Running Creek, at four paints along the study reach,
i8 listed in Table-2 below.

TABLE-2
RUNNING CREEK DRAINAGE AREAS

Upstream Study Limits

50.2

N

Near South Town Limit

51.8

State Highway 86 Bridge

53.8

Downstream Study Limit

54.0

Scale: 1" ~ 4 mile~

...--

Drainage8asin
Boundary

Vegetati~n .. typically range grasses with scattered .tands of Ponderos,
Pine On the ea"tern ridge8.
