The dam <br />is lacated an the Sauth Platte River just dawnstream fram the mauth <br />.of Plum Creek, sauth of Denver. The reservair has a stOrage <br />capacity .of 385,000 acre-feet, including 215,000 acre.feet far <br />flaad starage and 20,000 acre-feet far sediment cantral. The <br />praject pravides a high degree .of pratectian far metrapalitan <br />Denver and far extensive agricultural lands dawnstream <br />(Reference 4). <br /> <br />Clear Creek <br /> <br />There are 11 majDr reservDirs in the lDwer Clear Creek basin, 3 .of <br />which, RalstDn ReservDir, Maple GrDve ReservDir, and Leyden Lake, <br />are .on-stream and prDvide SDme residual flDDd cDntrDl effects dDwn- <br />stream frDm each site. NDne .of these reservDirs has a specific <br />flDDd cDntrDl functian. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RalstDn ReservDir, lDcated west .of Denver and nDrthwest .of the City <br />.of GDlden, was built .in 1938 by the City and CDunty .of Denver. It <br />receives water frDm RalstDn and SDuth BDulder Creeks and is used <br />fDr municipal water supply. The .outlet wDrks deliver water tD the <br />Maffat Treatment Plant and have the capability .of fDrcing the <br />natural inflDw back intD Ralstan Creek. AlthDugh RalstDn ReservDir <br />is nat .operated far flD.Dd cDntrDl purpDses, there' is apprDximately <br />2,400 acre-feet .of stDrage available between the primary spillway <br />crest at elevatiDn 6,046.0 feet and the tDp .of the dam at elevatian <br />6,060.0 feet. This stDrage prDvides incidental flDDd cDntrDl. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Maple GrDve ReservDir, which is lDcated .on Lena Gulch in the City <br />.of LakewDDd, is .owned by CDnsDlidated Mutual Water Campany and is <br />used fDr municipal water-supply stDrage.
