Floodplain Management

Mr. Paulson has been involved in all aspects of flood hazard and floodplain studies. These
studies have included the use of HEC-l, TR-20 and statistical methods for hydrologic
analyses, and HEC-2 for hydraulic calculations and floodplain delineations. He has analyzed
unique floodplain conditions including sheet flows, alluvial fans, distributary networks, levee
failures and split flows. Representati ve projects include:

· Project manager for a floodplain mapping study of all major flooding sources in Las
Vegas Valley, commissioned by the Corps of Engineers
· Project engineer for City of North Las Vegas flood insurance mapping revisions due to
construction of North Las Vegas Detention Basin
· Project engineer for Flood Insurance Studies in Tulare County, California; Clark County,
Nevada; and Catahoula Parish, Louisiana
· Staff engineer for Flood Insurance Studies in Clackamas County, Oregon and Lincoln
County, Nevada
