PREFACE

quantity takeoffs from tho preliminary design, and unit costs
were based on current prices. NO attempt W<l5 made to inflate
prices to a future construction datc,

This study prcsents floodplain information and n'com, nended
drainage improvements for a drainage basin located in north-
western Fort Collins designated the West Vine Drainage Basin,
The study is intended to bQ a planning tool fot' use by the
City of Fort Collins to aid in planning for future development
as it relates to the major drainageway plan, Hydrology used
for the design of future drainage f<lcilities within the basin
should be consistent with the hydrology contained in this report.
Future drainage facilities should be compatible with and compli-
ment the drainage improvements recommended herein,

Copies of this report are available from the City of FOt't
Collins, A Technical Addendum to this report is also available
for review at the City of Fort Collins; however, it is not
available for public distribution. The Technical Addendum
includ"s <"Ill pertinent nata and calculations \lsen in the
hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and the preliminary design
of drainage facilities.

This study was authorized by the City of Fort Collins in
cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The
study Wil,S completed by Eng.ineering Professionals, Inc. of Fort
Collins, Colorado, under an agreement dated June, 1981,

ENGINEERING PROFESSIONALS, INC,

The West vine ~ajor Drainagcway Study, as m~ntioned previously,
is a [:llanning tool to aid in determining present and future
drainage facility needs,As such, the Eloodolain was dcli~eated
to aid in determining benefits from alt~rnative drainaqe
tac~l~ty constructiol'.. 'fhe floodplains ,;hown on Fiyun,," G
thrOugh 10 were derived assuming future, full development
hyd~ology with existing drainage faciliti~s, and existing
development hydroloqy, the extent of development being determinect
from June to NQven~er of 1980, with existing drai~aqe facilities.
Major drainage facility lmrrovement~ will alter the flOOdplain,
Therefore, the City of Fort Collins should be contacted prior
to using the floodplain data to determine it's applicability
for any given situation,

1JI~k,ll/ Jk,,", J
Michael N.
