In Fiscal Year 1972 <br />environmental statements were drafted <br />and circlllAh~d for review on Chinll <br /> <br />Meadows Dam and Reservoir and on <br />Huntington Canyon Genere.ling Station. <br />a privately-owned thermal power plant <br />under construction for which cooling <br />water is to be purchased from the <br />Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />Realizing that the public must be pro- <br />vided timely information on major <br />plans and programs, the Bureau held <br />public hearings in order to obtain the <br />views of interested parties on the China <br />Meadows Dam and Reservoir. Bon- <br />neville Unit. and San Juan Generating <br />Station Draft Environmental State- <br />ments. As a result of this process, final <br />environmental statements were pre- <br />pared for China Meadows Dam anti L <br />Reservoir and Huntington Canyon and...._ <br />filed with the Council on Environmen. ... <br />tal Quality. <br /> <br />In addition. environmental statements <br />are being prepared for the Bonneville <br />and Jensen Units of the Central Utah <br />Project. Savery-Pot Hook Project and <br />Cutocanti-Shiprock No.2 Transmission <br />Line and are expected to be circulated <br />early in Fiscal Year 1973. <br /> <br />Early in Fiscal Year 1972, Ihe Secretary <br />of the Interior determined that the <br />energy resource development in the <br />Soulhwp-st related 10 coal-fired power- <br /> <br />plants needed more complete study. <br />Twelve groups were organized into the <br />Southwest Energy Study.
