Dam, located just downstream of the TOwn of Morrison in Jefferson
County. Hydrologic and hydraul,ic analyses of Bear Creek for the
revised Flood Insurance Study consider construction of the dam.

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated areas of the
City of Sheridan, Arapahoe County, Colorado; The area of study
is lIhown on the Vicinity Map (~igure 1).

Bear Creek was studied by detailed methods along its entire length
through Sheridan.

The areas studied by detailed methods were selected with priority
given to all known flood hazard areas and areas of projected develop-
ment or proposed 'construction through 1983.

, A hydrologic and hydraulic floqd plain reanalysis has been planned
for the South Platte River. Tl\erefore, flooding determined for
the South Platte River has beeQ presented in the study as approximate
until a reanalysis can be incor;porated into the study.

Approximate analyses were used 'to study those areas having a low
development potential or minimal f160d hazards. The scope and
methods of study were proposed ito, and agreed upon by, FEMA and
the City of Sheridan.

2.2 Community Description

Sheridan ill located in northwe~tern Arapahoe County, in central
Colorado.
