The schedule should indicate major milestones of the planning process and the expected completion date of each phase. If awarded this grant, we would like to consider RFP's at the earliest possible date and hire a consultant in the early part of 2001. Having them on board during our snow- melt season may give them additional insight to Delta's specific concerns. Through a process of public input and on-site investigation we would then hope to see a plan develop by the end of summer of 2001. Below is a preliminary schedule: 2001 - Award of grant January - Grant documents and agreements - January/February - Final selection of consultants ------- February - Begin public meetings --------- March - Site investigation -------- April/May - Develop preliminary plan ------- June Public input / FEMA review ------- June/July - Acceptance of flood plan ------ July/August 9. Over the past few years Delta has tried to take a more practical approach to Flood Hazard Mitigation. We have been in the forefront on the western slope of Colorado for the CRS rating programl we have begun pUblic meetings on river concerns 1 we have been designated a Project Impact Community through FEMA, we have included a broad spectrum of private and public involvement, we are working on a better early
