Loca.tion of the two centers
are: : 1) Red Mo~~tain-Si1verhee1s complex (on
Hoosier Ridge); 2.49 mi. (4.0 km.) SSE of Red
Mountain; 2.64 mi. (4.25 km.) E of Hoosier Pass-
. Rte. #9 Crossing; 1..25 mi. (2.0 km.) NNW of
}bunt Si1verhee1s. The center elevation is 12,000
feet MSL; and 2) Eald Mountaln- Boreas M:>untain
complex; 0.93.mi. (1.5 km.) SE Bald M:>untain;
1.87 mi. (3.0 km.) N of Boreas Mountain, 0.31 mi.
(0.5 km.) S of Continental Divide. The center
elevation is 12,000 ft. ~~L.
The areal coverage indication is that of two
circular areas, one over each site. The radii of
these areas are recommended to be 2.3 mi. (3.82
km.) each. The radii may be extended to 2.5 mi.
4.0 km.) with some caution.

S.P.F. Event

The system most likely for this event is the
most complex. It is an orographic sy stem with
large convective cells embedded in it. In terms
of the areal distribution of the precipitation,
this means that the basin area to either side of
the Divide will be receiving precipitation from
an orographic cloud while certain areas l.i11
receive very heavy precipitation amounts from the
convective cells embedded in the orographic clouds.
The convective cells will eventually grow in
large cumulonimbuii and overshadow the orographic
clouds by organizing the meso-scale flow. The
particular cell configuration chosen for this event
is a two cell per complex system, similar to
"System E" as reported in Appendix II of the
August 3 report; however, the complex is not
symetric. Each cell is conforming more to the
terrain and the flow conditions. The actual
configuration (given below) is such that it included

\
\
,I
I,

CwT
/- - - - o.V,OE
/

\ //

U\:')- ~{
I I " \
- --\. -/ I
- ,
I
!
.
\
\

,-
i
,
I
I

\
\
\
