<br />WHEREAS, a new report entitled "Proposed Ame!ldments to the <br />Flood Boundary and Floodway Maps for Dry Creek No. I, City of <br />Longmont, Colorado, prepared for the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency," dated February, 1985, has been prepared by <br />Taranto, Stanton & Tagge under .contract to the City of <br />Longmont; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said city report describes and outlines the <br />floodplain data and information for the improved North Line to <br />the St. Vrain River (Overflow Area) of Dry Creek No. 1 and the <br />improved reach of the Main Channel (Historic Channel) of Dry <br />Creek No. 1 from its confluence with the North Line to the St. <br />Vrain River (Overflow Area) of Dry Creek No. 1 upstream to <br />Hover Road; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Longmont has requested the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the <br />floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid new city report; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes, <br />requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the <br />prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Sta tutes, provide that such legis la ti ve bodies of local <br />jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on <br />or along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only <br />after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised <br />Statutes, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to <br />designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins and to make such designations available to legislative <br />bodies of local jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said revised <br />information and data and does hereby recommend to the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board that the Board designate and approve <br />as floodplain areas those areas inundated by a 100-year flood <br />(intermediate regional flood) as described by the floodwater <br />surface elevations and profiles in said new report for the <br />improved North Line to the St. Vrain River (Overflow Area) of <br />Dry Creek No. 1 and for the improved reach of the Main Channel <br />(Historic Channel) of Dry Creek No. 1 from its confluence with <br />the North Line to the St. Vrain River (Overflow Area) of Dry <br />Creek No. 1 upstream to Hover Road only, and further, recommends <br />that the portion of the floodplain designation for Dry Creek <br />No. 1 as approved by Resolution No. 77, adopted July 27, 1977, <br />for the North Line to the St. Vrain River (Overflow Area) of <br />Dry Creek No. 1 and for the reach of the Main Channel (Historic <br />channel) of Dry Creek No. 1 from its confluence with the North <br /> <br />-2- <br />
