Sloans Lake Drainage Basin is located in the western/central portion

of the Denver Metropolitan Area. Generally, it drains in an easterly

direction into the South Platte River between the Colfax Avenue and

Interstate 25 bridge crossings. Under the indexing system completed

in Project REUSE, the Sloans Lake Basin has been designated as Basin

1-31-4700-01. The total basin extends into two counties, Denver and

Jefferson, and four local governmental entities, Denver, Edgewater,

Lakewood and Wheat Ridge.

Figure 1 shows the location of the Sloans lake Basin within the metro-

politan area. The basin 1 ies generally between Colfax and 32nd Avenues

and extends westerly from the South Platte River to Garrison Street in

lakewood. The total basin area is 5.475 square miles, which is generally

apportioned to the local governmental entities included in the basin as

follows:
