I
I
I

I

Reach F-G

1. Design a 25-year channel between the medical center and the

Jefferson County High School property west of Pierce Street.

20 Design the Teller Street crossing for the minimum of either

a five-year des ign of 18" depth over the road for the 100-year

fI ood 0

3. Design a new culvert under Wadsworth which in combination with

the existing 36" conduit will match the capacity of the existing

conduit under the medical center.

CONCEPTUAL

I
I

Reach F-L

1. Design a five-year conduit along the thalweg to Vance Street.

2. Design a IOO-year detention pond between Vance and Wadsworth.

The pond should have gentle side slopes to provide for passive

recreation.

3. Design a flow restricter and side channel spillway for the

Rocky Mountain Ditch. Design a conduit from the spillway

to the detention pond. The conduit should be sized to keep

the IOO-year flow within the street right-of-way.

I

I
I

I

I

Reach J-K

1. Design channel and conduit for the five-year flood. Between

24th and Gray the conduit alignment should be in the street

right-of-way. Abandon the existing conduit.

2. Provide positive drainage from low points to the new conduit.

I

I

Reach J-North
No improvements are recommended for this reach.

I

I

SUMMARY

The preliminary design of the Sloans Lake basin drainage and flood

control improvements is based on the recommended combination of

Basin Alternatives 1, 2, and 3 from the Phase A report with recom-

mendations and modifications from all jurisdictions. The storm sewers

recommended in this master plan are all circular reinforced concrete

pipe and were des i gned to genera 11 y convey the 5-year flood. It is

recommended that during the final design, all sanitary sewer and major

water and gas lines be field located to determine accurate elevationso

If conflicts arise, oval pipes or slope adjustments should be consid-

ered to eliminate the need for utility relocations.

I

I
I
I

RECREATION

MASTER

PLAN

16
