Have any been <br />allowed? If so, take an example and find out what <br />criteria were used to evaluate the request and what <br />rationale was given for this particular approval. <br />Also, ask whether the property owner was notified <br />of the effect of the variance on flood insurance <br />rates. <br /> <br />Number 5 - Get a description of the process used to <br />review subdivision proposals. Find out what flood- <br />related issues are looked at, Ask whether .any have <br />been allowed. Find out whether subdivisions lying <br />adjacent to floodplains are reviewed for their <br />effects on flooding. <br /> <br />Number 6 - Get a description of the process used to <br />review capital improvements, e.g., community <br />buildings, streets, bridges, utilities, parks, etc, <br />Find out whether any having floodplain impacts have <br />been allowed and what was done to mitigate these <br />impacts. <br /> <br />(c) Ordinance Review <br /> <br />Number 1 - Make sure that the ordinance you <br />reviewed is the most current version, <br /> <br />Number 2 - Ask for an explanation of anything in <br />the ordinance that was unclear. <br /> <br />Number 3 - Bring up any inadequacies, omissions or <br />other problems identified during your review. <br /> <br />(d) Map Availability and Accuracy <br /> <br />Number 1 - Find out whether the maps and study in <br />use by local officials are complete and up-to-date. <br />Ask where they are kept and if they are available <br />to the public. <br /> <br />Number 2 - Determine whether other maps or studies <br />are being used for regulation. If so, record the <br />source, date, area covered and other descriptive <br />information, <br />
