I
I

If suitable aerial photography is not available, first review
the latest flood insurance maps, noting number and extent of
floodplains and floodways, constrictions to flow, etc. Next,
review any detailed studies for flood history, depths and
velocities, associated hazards, etc, The map and study
review should include adjacent communities, e,g" the
unincorporated areas of counties having boundaries that
coincide with cities and towns and vice versa, as well as
downstream communities and those on the opposite sides of
shared watercourses which are susceptible to actions taken by
the selected community,

F. Review the Community Profile Checklist: From this point
onward, you will begin to gather information that can be
recorded on Part 2 of the CRF, the Community Profile.
Detailed instructions on how to complete this part of the CRF
are given below in Part I. The reviewer should briefly
review this section now, before going on with the next part
of the Guide, in order to be aware of what types of
information will be needed to complete the Community Profile.

I

I
I
I
I
I
I

G. Review Community File:

I. Review correspondence to assess local attitudes
toward land use regulation and the NFIP. Use it to
gauge the community's level of NFIP-related activity,
past history, technical assistance needs, compliance
problems and to identify those at the local level who
are involved with NFIP implementation,

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I II

2. Review CAPE reports as a basis for comparison with
past performance, to identify problem areas and issues
and to evaluate progress in implementing recommendations
for follow-up.

3. Review Annual and Biennial Reports for data needed
to complete the Community Profile,

4. Review Available LOMAs and Map Revision Data to
determine the community's level of floodplain-related
activity and to estimate the accuracy of current maps.
Add to the list on page 4 of the CRF any addresses or
locations of areas where changes have occurred since the
date of the most recent maps for use during the
floodplain tour.

5. Review Flood Hazard Mitigation Reports and Disaster
Declarations to assess flooding history and progress on
report recommendations. Add to the list on page 4 of
the CRF any addresses or locations of areas that were
damaged and those where modifications are proposed to
reduce flood loss potential for review during the
floodplain tour.

- 5 -
