<br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />BIII.ONE <br /> <br />ImnduCUon <br /> <br />1.1 PURPOSE OF STUDY <br /> <br />The purpose of this study is to summarize specific flood events that occurred throughout <br />Colorado during 2001 by perfonning data collection, data analysis, report writing and other <br />tasks, <br /> <br />1,2 AUTHORIZATION <br /> <br />This study was authorized by the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) under Section <br />37-60-106 (I) (c) ofthe Colorado Revised Statutes, Under this statute, the CWCB has the power <br />and duty "to devise and formulate methods, means and plans for bringing about the greater <br />utilization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages therefrom." <br /> <br />1,3 GENERAL STUDY AREA DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The CWCB initially identified a number of individual flood events during the flood season, July <br />through September of 2001.
