Detailed information on floods before the turn of <br />the century is very limited, but historical records reference <br />floods in the Arkansas River Valley in 1826, 1844, 1859, 1864, <br />1869, and 1894. After the turn of the century, floods have <br />occurred at various localities in the subbasin in 1921, 1935, <br />1942, 1955, and 1965. The flood of 1921 was the greatest flood <br />of record on the Arkansas River at La Junta.
