Public Education/Information - Public preparedness <br />for a flood emergency ~s accompl~shed by means of personal <br />contact by City and County officials. It should at minimum <br />include all residences and businesses located in the 100-year <br />floodplain of the Arkansas River. Door-to-door contact, <br />newspaper ads, and flyers mailed to the addresses of people <br />affected are effective public education/information tools. <br />Again, private individuals should be aware of what is expected <br />of them in the event of flooding (ie, floodplain level <br />designation, evacuation route, shelter they should go to, <br />etc.) . <br /> <br />23 <br />
