<br />TRAINING <br /> <br />We can now usually send you a prepaid airline ticket when you have a student <br />approved for an out-of-state course. Just include a note, requesting a <br />prepaid airline reservation, along with our student's FEMA form 75-5 <br />Application. We'll send the ticket to you along with a receipt that we need <br />to have returned for our accounting files. <br /> <br />Now is the time to recruit students for FFY 85 courses and to make arrange- <br />ments to attend the Workshops. Use FEMA form 75-5 to nominate yourself and <br />others for our courses. Bring a county administrator or school superintendent <br />with you to our Introduction to Emergency Management course. <br /> <br />Bring a city manager or planner or a commissioner to the Emergency Planning <br />course. Organize a team; EMS, fire, law enforcement and social services <br />personnel to attend our Exercise Design course. <br /> <br />Get committments from your top elected officials to attend our 19 April '85 <br />Public Officials' Conference with you; the conference main topic: "What to do <br />Before, During and After a Flood." Enroll yourself in our Basic Skills Course <br />modules: Creative Financing, Effective Communication, Leadership and Influence. <br /> <br />Remember, you <br />State rates: <br />costs. <br /> <br />and your course recruit are reimbursed for directed travel at <br />$.20 per mile, $23.00 for meals, plus reasonable housing <br /> <br />Would you like some assistance in recruiting people for work in the community <br />emergency preparedness program, or for materials to use in briefing your <br />commissioners, other public officials, the PTA, volunteer agencies and other, <br />civic groups? Talk over your concerns with our Regional Planner or Call Bob <br />Koneval 273-1859. <br /> <br />The Home-Study program that used to be managed through Michigan Technical <br />University is now being managed through the State Training Office. The <br />Emergency Program Manager SS-1 course is new and designed for both experienced <br />as well as new Civil Defense/Emergency Preparedness, Coordinators/Directors. <br />The SS-1 manaual is also an excellent source of material for briefing your <br />commissioners and other public and private groups regarding community <br />emergency preparedness activity. The general public is invited to enroll in <br />the SS-2 Course: Emergency Management USA. One semester credit for each <br />of these courses is. available .through Red-Eocks~_Community. .College......Den.....r:...._....._. _ <br />Colorado 80401, Attention: Sandy Tangney , 988-6160 Ext. 303. (Contact Ms. <br />Tangney directly for COllege credits, and fee information). Apply for the <br />SS-1 course using the familiar FEMA form 75-5 "General Admission Application." <br />Send it to DODES, Attention: C. Cook, 15000 Old Golden Road, Golden, <br />Colorado, 80401, and'you'll receive the SS-1 manual, exam answer sheet and <br />informational letter. The SS-2 course can be obtained in anyone of several <br />ways: any citizen can write dirctly to DODES using a letter or the old <br />tri-fold L-124 flyer or any director can send us a letter requesting the SS-2 <br />course for any number of students; listing their name (s) and address (es). <br />Again, the student will receive a SS-2 manual exam answer sheet and informa- <br />tion letter. We will send students'completion certificates to you for <br />presentation. The SS-3 Radiological Monitor course is under revision. We <br />will let you know when the new version of this popular course is available. <br /> <br />We expect to have information for you on two new 16-hour hazardous materials <br />responders courses before the end of December. <br />
