The function of interior drain <br />ditc~es is to collect rainfall runoff and convey it to drainage <br />structures. The ditches vary in bottom width from 10 to 15 feet <br />and have 1 on 2 side slopes. <br /> <br /> <br />Maintenance. The superintendent shall provide at all times <br />such maintenance as may be required to insure their proper <br />functioning in times of flood. Measures shall be taken to <br />provide for the removal of silt deposits and wild growth, such as <br />trees and bushes, and to repair damage caused by erosion or <br />vandalism. Periodic inspection shall be made by the superin- <br />tendent to make sure that the above maintenance measures are <br />carried out and further to be certain that: <br /> <br />1. No cavings have occurred that might affect the capacity <br />of the ditches; and <br /> <br />2. No abrupt changes in the ditches' design invert slope has <br />occurred which might create low water-holding areas. <br /> <br />Such inspections shall be made immediately prior to the beginning <br />of the flood season; immediately fOllowing each major high-water <br />period; and, otherwise, at intervals not exceeding 90 days; and <br /> <br />III-5 <br />
