<br />PROJECT BENEfITS <br /> <br />The Kiowa Creek Flood Protection Project provides IOO-year <br />flood protection to the town, its properties and residents. <br />These inundated properties are delinE~ated on the FEMA Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map 080204 0001 B effective February 15. 1979. <br />As a result of successful completion of the project the entire <br />town has been removed from the floodplain except for a small <br />ponding area upstream of the 72" Burlington Northern Railroad <br />culverts located approximately three blocks west of Main Street <br />(See Plate 2). <br /> <br />Acknowledgement of the project which removes the Town of <br />Wiggins from the Kiowa Creek floodplain (excepting the ponding <br />area) was provided by. FEMA in a LettElr of Map Revision (LOMR) <br />dated December 5, 1989. Project features are inspected <br />annually as required by FEMA in compliance wi.th procedures set <br />forth in the town's Operation and Maintenance Manual for the <br />project. <br /> <br />-9- <br />
