<br />CWCB 1997 Flood Documcntation <br />Meeting Minutes Generated from Discussions <br />Held with CWCB Staff Members on March 27, 1998 <br /> <br />March 27,1998 at 9:00 am Meeting with Mark MatuliJ< <br /> <br />Talked to Mark Matulik about Otero, Crowley, Baca, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties. In general, the <br />storms and flooding experienced in these counties occurred in early August. <br /> <br />Otero County l VI :\)) <br /> <br />Mark supplied RTi with a folder containing newspaper articles and related information that Mark had <br />collected. Mark's primary contact in Otero County has been Kathy Ehrhch. Any future contact with <br />Otero County should start with a call to Kathy. Mark thinks that of all th.e southern counties, Otero <br />County will be the county where RTi has the most succes, in quantifying the precipitation and <br />hydrology associated with the flooding. <br /> <br />Available flood studies for Otero County include: <br />. Flood insurance study for La Junta <br />. various COE studies <br />. Timpas Creek study 0/ <br />. Flood insurance study for Swink <br /> <br />Prowers County (. ~ '.'~ <br /> <br />Mark said that Tom Browning would be the best source of information for Prowers County. Of all <br />the southern counties, Prowers County ranks number 2 in :\1ark's opinion in terms of potential <br />success in quantifying the precipitation and hydrology associated with the flooding. <br /> <br />Available flood studies for Prowers County i!JClude: <br />. No data has been <br />passed on to Mark by Dana. RTi should contact Dana and inquire about the data. Several of the <br />county commissioners are also the on the road and bridge crew. These individuals will probably be <br />good sources of information. Of all the southern counties, Baca County ranks number 3 in Mark's <br />opinion in terms of potential success in quantifying the precipitation and hydrology associated with <br />the flooding. <br /> <br />There is one flood study available for Baca County in Walsh, for Sand Arroyo. <br /> <br />Crowle,.'
