<br />WHEREAS, said report with included maps acknowledged the most current corporate _ <br />limits and roadway infonnation at the time of the study based on base maps and road maps .. <br />provided by Arapahoe County; and <br /> <br />LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNA nON <br />WHEREAS, Arapahoe County, Colorado has requested that the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board take fonnal action on the floodplain infonnation contained in said report with <br />included maps dated March 4,1991; and <br /> <br />C.R.S AUTHORITY <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along <br />any stonn or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-I06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to designate and approve stonn or floodwater runoff channels or basins <br />and to make such designations available to legislative bodies oflocal jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCB TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain infonnation in said report for stream reaches in <br />Arapahoe County as listed In Table 3 meet the requirements for detailed floodplain infonnation as <br />listed in the Board's "Ru1es and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and <br />of Stonn or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1), based on a cursory review <br />only by the CWCB staff; and <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate floodplain infonnation in said report for stream reaches in <br />Arapahoe County as listed in Table 2 was the best regulatory floodplain infonnation at the time of <br />the study but did not necessarily meet the Board's "Ru1es and Regu1ations for the Designation and <br />Approval of Floodplains and of Stonn or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1) <br />during the time in which said report was effective; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board produced a report entitled <br />"Guidelines for Determining 100-year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplains in Colorado" <br />(Guidelines) that provides basic hydrology infonnation for certain streams within Arapahoe <br />County and other portions of the state; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the availability of the hydrology Guidelines, as they apply to certain <br />approximate floodplain reaches in Arapahoe County, now provide a means for those certain <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />e <br />
