<br />.> <br /> <br />~~;;1l ~ <br /> <br /> <br />Senators Armstrong & Hart & <br />Representative Kogovsek <br /> <br />City of Pueblo <br /> <br />~ >~-, <br /> <br />S!inilar, letter sent to: <br /> <br />May 18, 1981 <br /> <br />The Honorable Kenneth Kramer <br />U.S. Representative <br />114 Longworth Bldg. <br />Washington, D.C. 20515 <br /> <br />Dear Representative Kramer: <br /> <br />Th"nk you for your letter of M"y 6, 1981 to M""lJel River", Chairman of <br />the Foun tain Creek Commissiol\ with regard t'o the Foun tain Creek Flood Con- <br />trol Project. <br /> <br />For your information, effective April I, 1981, Mr. .James G.nter is Chairman <br />of the Conmlission and the writer is ChaiTm~n of the Commission's Task Group <br />on the Flood Control Project. <br /> <br />The information that you outline in your letter- is correct with regard to <br />the authorization of the project [or conRtruction. <br /> <br />However, it is my understanding that since this project is an element of <br />the project authorized in the 1974 Water Resources Development Act for the <br />Arkansas River and 'Tributaries Above John Martin Dam, Colorado, that work <br />can continue on this project during the period that it is under considera- <br />tion for authorization for construction provided funding in the amount of <br />$l50,OOO for fiscal year 1982 is made available to the Corps for Phase II, <br />Advanced Engineering and Design. <br /> <br />It is my further understanding that these funds can be made available in <br />either of two ways. <br /> <br />At the present time, tile proposed Public Works I\udget [or Fiscal Year 1982 <br />includes a line item for $350,000 to continue Phase I, Advanced Engineering <br />and Design Studies on three elements of the project authorized in the 1974 <br />\~ater Resources Development Act [or the Arkansas River and Tributaries <br />Above John Martin Dam, Colorado.
