<br />-I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE ORDER <br /> <br />PROCLAKATIO!l <br /> <br />Disaster Emergency due to the potential for Spring Sno~ Melt Run- <br />off Flooding and Landslides. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the May 1st state~ide snowpack is 149% of average; and <br />WHEREAS, this is the highest snowpack the state has experienced <br />since 1984; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1984 the spring sno~ melt run-off provided the basis <br />for significant flooding and landslides on the ~estern slope of <br />Colorado; and <br />WHEREAS, the potential exists for similar flooding and landslides <br />this year; and <br />WHEREAS, the state and its local governments are responsible for <br />taking action to mitigate the impacts of, prepare for, respond to, <br />and recover from those events that may be caused by this potential <br />threat. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Roy Romer, Governor of the State of Colorado, <br />under the po~ers vested in me under Section 28-32-2104 of the <br />Colorado Disaster Emergency Act of 1992, do hereby declare that a <br />state of disaster emergency exists in the state of Colorado, due to <br />the reasons set forth above, and therefore direct that the <br />rollo~ing actions be taken. <br />1. The State Emergency operations Plan and the state Emergency <br />Response Team be activated. <br /> <br />2. Current fund balances in the State Disaster Emergency Fund be <br />made available to the Department of Local Affairs, Office of <br />Emergency Management to support the state's flood/landslide <br />mitigation, preparedness, and initial emergency response <br />activities. <br />
