Factual information (names, titles, addresses, phone numbers,
etc.) must be verified. Any changes should be entered on replacement
pages, dated and identified, and distributed to all plan holders. Appendix J
is a list of offices and organizations that received a copy of this plan. The list
should be used when new revisions to this plan are distributed. Agency
Directors should take responsibility for keeping the plan current with respect
to their agency, and also for informing alternates and other key personnel of
subsequent revisions.

5. Technical Assistance - If any technical information is required to
maintain the desired degree of preparedness, the following
individuals/agencies may be contacted for assistance:

Flood Plain Management Services
US Army Corps of Engineers
Albuquerque District
4101 Jefferson Plaza NE
Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109-3435
505-342-3461

Meteorologist in Charge
National Weather Service
Pueblo, Colorado
719-948-9429 ext. 642

Fremont County Office of Emergency Management
Director
Fremont County Courthouse
Canon City, Colorado 81212
719-275-1515 ext.140

State of Colorado Office of Emergency Management
Golden, Colorado
303-273-1622

Note: Through the Colorado State Office of Emergency Management, the
City of Canon City may also request technical assistance from other state
agencies.

6. Public Education/Information - Public preparedness for a flood
emergency is accomplished by means of personal contact by City and
County officials. It should at minimum include all residences and businesses
(listed in Appendix C) located in the 50-, 100-, and SOD-year floodplain of the
Arkansas River. Door-to-door contact, newspaper add, and flyers mailed to
the addresses of people affected are effective public education/information
tools. Again, private individuals should be aware of what is expected of them
in the event of flooding (ie, floodplain level designation, evacuation route,
shelter they should go to if they choose to, etc.).

29
