<br />WHEREAS, the lOO-year flow for said streams, which have drainage areas greater than <br />or equal to 4 square miles and less than or equal to 330 square miles, may be estimated by <br />utilizing the regression equation for Arkansas River Basin Subregion ARK-6 as set forth in the <br />Guidelines for Determining 100- Year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodpwins; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a procedure for determining hydrology information in Chaffee County for <br />approximate floodplains of the Arkansas River mainstem, streams with drainage areas less than <br />4 square miles or greater than 330 square mile" lakes, ponds, local storm drainage areas, and <br />overflows from irrigation ditches and canals has not been established by the Guidelines for <br />Determining 100-year Flowsfor Approximate Floodplains; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the streams with drainage areas less than 4 square miles or greater than 330 <br />square miles, lakes, ponds, local storm drainage areas, and overflows from irrigation ditches and <br />canals may not be designated as approximate tloodplain information without a procedure for <br />estimating lOO-year peak flows, and the local government understands and agrees that a detailed <br />hydrologic and hydraulic study should be performed by a professional engineer and submitted <br />by the developer or the development proponent prior to any floodplain development in those <br />cases; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chaffee County, Colorado /1as requested the Colorado Water ConseIVation <br />Board to designate and approve the approximate floodplain information set forth in Table I and <br />Table 2; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chaffee County, Colorado, has not requested the Colorado Water <br />ConseIVation to rescind any of the detailed floodplain information contained in Resolution Nos. <br />114,133,146, and 172; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado <br />Water ConseIVation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide <br />that legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or <br />along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by <br />the Colorado Water ConseIVation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(I)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado <br />Water ConseIVation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the information in said new report for said stream reaches in Chaffee <br />County, which have drainage areas greater than 4 square miles or less than 330 square miles, <br />meets all of the requirements for approximate iofonnation listed under the Board's "Rules and <br /> <br />4 <br />
