<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff members from the cwCB and from Montgomery Watson transmitted letters <br />and telephoned local officials in Boulder County :rnd incorporated communities within Boulder County <br />(Boulder, Jamestown, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, Lyons, Nederland, and Superior) regarding the <br />CWCB's floodplain designation and approval process; and ". ." <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff members from the CWCB and Montgomery Watson met with Town of <br />Lafayette regarding floodplain management activities and the CWCB's designation and approval <br />process for floodplain information, and the Town concurred with the proposed designation action and <br />agreed to transmit a letter to the CWCB staff requesting designation by the Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the community of Louisville requested a meeting with CWCB staff to discuss <br />floodplain management activities and the CWC)3's designation and approval process for floodplain <br />information, but a meeting has not yet taken place as of the date of this resolution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Boulder County and the incorporated communities of Boulder, Longmont, Lyons, <br />Nederland, and Superior did not request a meetin~ with CWCB and Montgomery Watson staff and did <br />not reject the CWCB's proposed designation action; and <br /> <br />c.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies oflocal jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCR TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain information, as listed in Table I, in said new Floodplain <br />Information Report and Hydrology Addendum with included maps, meets all of the requirements listed <br />under the Board's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and of <br />Storm or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate riverine floodplain information, as listed in Table 2, in said new <br />Floodplain Information Report and Hydrology Addendum with included maps meets all of the <br /> <br />5 <br />
