The report is based on anticipated
future land use and existing drainage facilities. Flood plains are frequently
altered by road and bridge construction. A report on geologic hazards is also
available to the planner (Reference 17).
C. Information Procurement

GREEN MOUNTAIN AREA
FLOOD HAZARD AREA DELINEATION

A. Authorization

This study, covering the storm drainage and flood hazard delineation
for the Green Mountain Area was authorized under the terms of the contract
between the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (U.D. & F.C,D.), the
City of Lakewood, Jefferson County, and Hydro-Triad, Ltd., dated April 15,
1977. The notice to proceed was given on the same date, but the contractual
period for the study was indexed from the receipt of the blue line prints of
the mapping on May 31, 1977.

The participating or sponsoring governmental agencies for this study
are the U.D, & F.C.D., Jefferson County, and the City of Lakewood. The
mapping of the basin was accomplished under separate contract between the
U.D. & F.C.D. and Delta Aerial Surveys, Inc,
B. Purpose and Scope
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the hydrological and
hydraulic aspects of the storm drainage for the Green Mountain Area
drainageways to define the flood plain and flood hazard areas. The scope
of work for this study can be summarized as follows:
(1) Define the hydrologic, topographic and land use features of the
basin.

During the process of this study, approximately 22 agencies, organizations,
and individuals were contacted by Hydro-Triad, Ltd. staff members to obtain
information and history on the storm drainage within the Green Mountain
study area. A considerable amount of data was provided by the City of
Lakewood and Jefferson County staff. A list of the agencies, organizations,
and individuals contacted and a summary of the information obtained is
presented in the appendix to this report.
We received excellent cooperation from all the agencies and individuals
that have interest in the Green Mountain Area.
D. Method of Analysis
The sequential process and methods of analysis utilized in this
study were based upon the terms of the contract, the Urban Storm Drainage
Criteria Manual, current codes and regulations of the City of Lakewood and

1
