Dear Mayor Lopez:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for
your community. Specifically, this responds to a transmittal dated June 23,
1994, from Mr. Thomas A. Gardner, P.E., Project Manager, EM!< Consultants,
Inc., regarding the effective FIS report and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM)
for the Town of Parker, Colorado. Mr. Gardner requested that we revise the
effective FIRM to show the effects of the construction of the Jordan Road
Tributary diversion channel, two 4-foot by 9-foot box culverts along Jordan
Road Tributary, and updated existing conditions along Newlin Gulch,

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with
Mr. Gardner's June 23 transmittal and with his July 15, 1994, letter. In
addition, Mr. Richard N. Wray, P.E., Principal, Kiowa Engineering
Corporation, submitted data with his letter dated August 11, 1994. All fees
necessary to process this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR), a total of $2,610,
have been received.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain
boundary delineations of a flood having a I-percent probability of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along Jordan Road
Tributary from its confluence with Newlin Gulch to approximately 700 feet
upstream of Stonegate Parkway, The construction of the diversion channel
will shift the confluence of Jordan Road Tributary with Newlin Gulch
approximately 5,500 feet upstream of its present location. The 100-year
flood discharge is contained within the diversion channel along Jordan Road
Tributary, The Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) has increased upstream of
Jordan Road because of the redirection of flow created by the diversion
channel. The SFHA for Jordan Road Tributary downstream of Jordan Road has
been eliminated because of the diversion channel. The Town of Parker,
Colorado, is affected by this reduction of SFHA from 3,200 feet upstream of
its confluence with Newlin Gulch to approximately 3,400 feet upstream of its
