COHPARISON OF FLOOD HVDROLOGIC ESTIHATE~N COLORADO

ABSTRACT ~
Stream~low information, existing flood ~tudies and regression analysis

were studied to compare the flood hydr . . es of selected streams in

Colorado. The uncertaint

flood-frequency methods wa studied. In this

report 52 sites were investigated most at stream flow gaging stations, 32 in

the South Platte River Basin, 4 in the Arkansas River Basin, 2 in the Rio

Grande and 14 in the Colorado River Basin.

There are indications that there is a relationship between elevation and

discharge for the basins investigated within the Colorado Front Range

foothills. This may extend from the South Platte River Basin, to the Arkansas

River Basin to the Colorado River Basin. This relationship should be

investigated further in order to more fully understand the complex hydrology

in Colorado.

~

1
