We are delighted you <br />could join us here in Boulder for our Silver Anniversary and hope you fmd the meeting productive and enjoyable. <br /> <br />Sunday Evening <br /> <br />RegislIation opens at 4:00 p.m in the Lobby of the Regal Harvest House Hotel. A poster session and cash <br />bar reception take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Century and Millennium Rooms on Levell; see the map of the <br />hotel on the tan-colored page in this notebook. A list of poster session presentations (buff-colored pages) is included <br />as well. <br /> <br />From 4:00-6:00 p.m., anyone interested in distance learning issues in emergency and hazards management <br />education are invited to join a round table discussion in Suite 431 (Level 4, South Wing). <br /> <br />Beginning at 5:45 p.m, all students are invited to join a round table discussion in Suite 331 (Level 3, South <br />Wing). Topics will U1clude research opportunities, publishing, the development of professional networks, and where <br />to go for dinner. <br /> <br />We invite the rest of you to peruse the list of Boulder restaurants described by our Sometimes Above <br />GroundlUnderground Gounnet (found on the pink-colored pages in this notebook). We're sure at least one of them <br />will suit your dining pleasure. <br /> <br />Monday Morning <br /> <br />RegislIation continues in the Century Room, Level I, at 7:00 a.m. <br /> <br />For you caffeine addicts, early morning coffee is available at7:15 a.m. in the Sunshine Room on Level 2 of <br />the hotel. This year the coffee is again compliments of the ffiM Crisis Response Team. Please tell Brent Woodworth <br />of ffiM "Thanks!" if you appreciate the java. <br /> <br />The workshop begins bright and early at 8:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom on Level 2. Following a very <br />brief welcome from Center Director Dennis Mileti, and the Honorable Mark Udall (Boulder's representative in the <br />U.S. House of Representatives), we will introduce ourselves. You will be invited to state, in one short sentence, a <br />principal concem of yours related to hazards. <br /> <br />Following introductions, our keynote speaker, Scott Gudes with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric <br />Administration (NOM) will share his insights on that agency's role in hazard mitigation in the U.s. After a break, <br />we will return to a plenary session that focuses on the political economy of hazards. <br /> <br />During breaks, beverages will be served in the Garden Area immediately behind the hotel, and lunches will <br />be served under the Pavilion, on the hotel grounds just east of the tennis courts. If you have purchased lunch, your <br />"ticket" is stamped on the back of your name badge. Be sure to have it with you when you go through the buffet <br />line. <br />
