You believe that the build-up of an island and bars <br />with heavy vegetation in the river channel will reduce its flood carrying capacity. We <br />concur with your assessment, at least in part, and agree that something needs to be done. <br /> <br />This stretch of the South Platte River channel is owned and operated by the State of <br />Colorado through its Colorado Water Conservation Board/Division. As a result we are <br />not in a position to perform any maintenance activities within that reach of the river <br />unless we are specifically requested to do so by the Division; otherwise we are <br />trespassing onto State property.
