The purpose of the meeting was to
devise a system of measurements to be undertaken by city of Englewood personnel
to record operation of the inteke with regards to sediment during various flow rates
and gate settings during Spring runoff this year.

Cliff Pugh of the USBR distributed a draft copy of a graph (copy attached) which
relates radial gate setting to flow rate and three zones related to boating on the
river. Current operetion of the redial gate by the city of Englewood is to have the
gate wide open when flow rates In the river exceed 300 cfs to 500 cfs.

The group discussed the current operetion of the redial gate end what could to done
this Spring to measure the effect of lower gate settings on sediment movement in
the intake channel and operation of the intake in regard to flushing of sediment.

This discussion was translated into a list of items for gate settings and measure-
ments which were written down by Bill McCormick of the city of Englewood. During
the forthcoming Spring runoff on the South Platte River, city personnel will make
and record these measurements for use In designing the proposed improvements.

During the discussion, It was stated that Bill Taggart feels that a large amount of
sediment is coming over the submerged intake wall at higher flows. Bill McCormick
does not feel that this is the case.

The meeting adjourned ebout noon.

Approved by

City or Agency
