the most intense area of the storm pattern that is most comparable to point rainfall depths reported
for the 1935 event,

The values in table 16 can be compared with unofficial point rainfalls, which were as high as 24
inches in 24 h. The smaller PMP values listed in table 16 result from areal reduction factors imposed
in the HMR 52 procedure, These factors produce equivalent uniform depths over an entire subbasin
and may well result in values less than reported point rainfalls for any given duration,
