<br />While it is recognized that no project activity can take place in waters and <br />wetlands without a permit from the USACE. proper maintenance is essential. <br />Delayed maintenance threatens the integrity of the floodway and increases <br />losses after a flood event. <br /> <br />The attendees may consider a task force for interested parties to evaluate <br />alternative methods to gain preapprovallby way of a general permit) for certain <br />maintenance activities. <br /> <br />Also. discussions may center on the use of a model channel maintenance <br />agreement drafted by DFG. <br /> <br />EIS-9 Ensure diIlIIster assistance programs actively promote mitigation. <br /> <br />FEMA disaster assistance programs (Mitigation. Human Services. and <br />Infrastructure) will promote mitigation elements in each area to eliminate or <br />reduce future damages. <br /> <br />EIS-9.A <br /> <br />Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGPJ <br /> <br />OES should provide assistance to eligible communities in applying for the <br />Hazard Mitigation Grant, Projects are funded on a 75% federal/25% non- <br />federal match basis for projects which substantially reduce the risk of future <br />damage. hardship. loss or suffering in any area affected by a major disaster. <br />Mitigation measures are identified following the evaluation of the hazards and <br />are subject to FEMA approval. OES will establish project priorities Ii.e., <br />acquisition. elevation. or flood control measures) and assist jurisdictions in <br />making application for HMGP funding, <br /> <br />EIS-9.B <br /> <br />FEMA Disaster HousinglHome Repair Program and IFG Programs include <br />funding under the -soo- series for the foHowing low cost items: <br /> <br />o Elevate/Relocate Main Panel.
