I
I
il
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
II
I
II
'I
I
I
I
1
J

Simons, Li and Associates, Inc.
Job. No. 6143J002
Project: Portland Flume Reconstruction

Structure No. 6P - Sta. 8 + 94): This structure is a large
single story wood frame motel that has been newly remodeled.
The structure rests upon a shallow concrete and stone spread
footing with concrete and stone stem walls. A fairly new con-
crete wall has been placed adjacent to the stem wall along the
eastern end of the building, probably for lateral support. The
building has a full slab-on-grade basement. Footing depth ap-
pears to be approximately 2 feet below the flow line of the
existing flume on the east end and approximately 2 feet above
the flow line of the existing flume on the west end. Some de-
terioration and cracking was observed along the stem wall.
Wall loads are assumed to be less than 10 klf. The north wall
footing is located approximately 4 feet from the existing flume
wall.

Structure No. 7P - (Sta. 8 + 14): This structure is a very
old, single story, wood frame building covered with tin sid-
ing. The structure rests upon a very shallow stone footing and
stem wall. The structure does not have a basement but does
appear to have a suspended wood floor. Footing depths are very
shallow and appear to be very close to the top of the existing
flume wall. No sructural distress was observed in the walls
due to the tin covering, but the roof line was somewhat irregu-
lar. Wall loads are assumed to be less than 5 klf. The north
wall footing is located approximately 2 feet from the existing
flume wall.

Structure No. 8P - (Sta. 7 + 30): This structure is a one
story, single family residence of masonry block construction.
Footings appear to be part of the monolithic floor slab. The
building is in poor condition with severe cracking in the walls
throughout the structure. The building is located approximate-
ly 15 feet from the existing flume with a concrete parking slab
on the south end located approximately 5 feet from the flume.

-8-
