<br />2.0 AREA STUDIED <br /> <br />2.1 Scope of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study <br />Blanco County, Colorado. <br />Vicinity Map (Figure 1). <br /> <br />covers the <br />The areas <br /> <br />unincorporated <br />of study are <br /> <br />areas <br />shown <br /> <br />of Rio <br />on the <br /> <br />The areas studied by detailed methods were selected based upon the <br />extent and validity of available existing hydrologic and hydraulic <br />data. <br /> <br />The following streams were studied by detailed methods: <br /> <br />White River - from a point approximately 8,650 feet downstream <br />of its confluence with Coal Mine Draw to a point approximately <br />23,365 feet upstream of its confluence with Douglas Creek, a <br />reach of approximately 53,390 feet, and from a point approxi- <br />mately 3,100 feet downstream of State Highway 13/789 upstream <br />to the lOth Street Bridge, a reach of approximately 27,000 <br />feet. <br /> <br />Coal Mine Draw - from its confluence with the White River to a <br />point approximately 600 feet upstream at the Town of Rangely <br />corporate limits and from the Town of Rangely corporate limits <br />560 feet upstream of County Highway 2 to a point approximately <br />4,810 feet upstream of Oil Road, a reach of approximately 8,960 <br />feet. <br /> <br />College Canyon Draw - from the Town of Rangely corporate limits <br />975 feet upstream of South White Avenue to the Town of Rangely <br />corporate limits 3,505 feet upstream of South White Avenue, a <br />reach of approximately 2,530 feet, and from the Town of Rangely <br />corporate limits 4,655 feet upstream of South White Avenue to a <br />point approximately 570 feet upstream of Oil Road, a reach of <br />approximately 2,965 feet. <br /> <br />Approximate methods of analysis were used to study the White River <br />from the 10th Street Bridge, upstream to a point just southeast of <br />the intersection of State Routes 13/789 and 132, a reach of approxi- <br />mately 12,000 feet. <br /> <br />Douglas Creek was studied by approximate methods from the Town of <br />Rangely corporate limits near its confluence with the White River to <br />the Town of Rangely corporate limits. <br /> <br />Sulphur Creek was <br />Meeker corporate <br />upstream. <br /> <br />also <br />limits <br /> <br />studied <br />to a <br /> <br />by approximate methods from <br />point approximately 3,400 <br /> <br />the <br />feet <br /> <br />2 <br />
