CONSTRUCTION

The floodpl ain managt!11ent strategy for this segment is Floodplain Preserva-

tion.

Channel Improvement Costs -0-

Approximately 2000-feet of existing channel downstream of Marshall Street
will be left in its natural condition. The remainder of the segment has
been or will be channelized by the Colorado State Division of Highways
(CSDH), mostly outside the 1 imits of the historic thalweg. The Highway
Department has proposed a new 220-feet bridge structure at West 52nd Avenue.
The improved channel has been constructed from Wads\\Orth to Marshall
Street. No major drainageway improvements are recommended in the reach
which has been channelized by the CSDH.

A proposed construction of the hiker/biker/maintenance trail will tie Mar-
shall Street to the West 52nd Street improvements along the right bank of
the existing channel.
