<br />FPR 239 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />721 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />May 3, 1985 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a report entitled "Flood Insurance Study, Otero <br />County, Colorado," which includes floodplain information and data <br />for the Arkansas River, Anderson and King Arroyos, and Timpas <br />Creek, dated February 19, 1985, has been prepared by Dames & <br />Moore under contract with the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency; and <br /> <br />) <br />j <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the engineering information and data for said <br />report were obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' <br />Floodplain Information Reports entitled '''Special Flood Hazard <br />Information, Arkansas River, Anderson and King Arroyos, La Junta, <br />Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1977, and "Floodplain <br />Information Report, Arkansas River and Timpas Creek, Otero <br />County, Colorado," dated August, 1981. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested <br />by the Board of County Co~issioners of Otero County by <br />Resolution Nos. 100 and 178, adopted March 16, 1978, and December <br />4, 198]" respectively, approved and designated the floodplains <br />described in said Floodplain Information Reports; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Flood Insurance Study and said Flood <br />Information Reports contain :identical floodplain data and <br />information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Otero County <br />has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate <br />and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the flood <br />insurance, study; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1), Colorado Revised Statutes, <br />requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the <br />prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes, provide that such legislative bOdies of local jurisdic- <br />tions may provide zoning regulations for' land uses on or along <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />128 <br />res/239 <br />
