FPR 239 COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD 721 State Centennial Building 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 May 3, 1985 RES 0 L UTI 0 N WHEREAS, a report entitled "Flood Insurance Study, Otero County, Colorado," which includes floodplain information and data for the Arkansas River, Anderson and King Arroyos, and Timpas Creek, dated February 19, 1985, has been prepared by Dames & Moore under contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and ) j WHEREAS, the engineering information and data for said report were obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Floodplain Information Reports entitled '''Special Flood Hazard Information, Arkansas River, Anderson and King Arroyos, La Junta, Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1977, and "Floodplain Information Report, Arkansas River and Timpas Creek, Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1981. WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested by the Board of County Co~issioners of Otero County by Resolution Nos. 100 and 178, adopted March 16, 1978, and December 4, 198]" respectively, approved and designated the floodplains described in said Floodplain Information Reports; and WHEREAS, said Flood Insurance Study and said Flood Information Reports contain :identical floodplain data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or basins of the study area; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Otero County has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the flood insurance, study; and WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that such legislative bOdies of local jurisdic- tions may provide zoning regulations for' land uses on or along ) 128 res/239
